We start Part 2 of our Port Orford to Gold Beach drive with a stop at Nesika Beach. The image above right is a wide angle view looking north, in the pic you can see Humbug Mountain, 3 Sisters, and the Nesika Beach rest stop. The photos below are zoomed views of the scene above. Before taking the above pics Jerry and I stopped at a Highway 101 pullout where there is an easy trail down to Nesika Beach. Below are some photos that I shot from beach level. Below are my favorite Jerry pics from our beach stop. We crossed over the Gold Beach/Rogue River Bridge, officially named Patterson Bridge, and stopped at the Patterson Bridge/Mary D. Hume visitor information area adjacent to the Port of Gold Beach. I took some photos of the information signs that are located there, click on the pics to enlarge and learn more about the bridge and old whaling ship/tug boat. The two rows of photos below feature various angle pics of the Mary D. Hume. I turned east towards the Patterson Bridge and shot these images showing some of the current construction, some of the original failing concrete and rebar is being replaced. Before heading home I stopped off at Battle Rock Park and took this next set of images. First is Battle Rock beach, next is Hubbards Creek Beach, the last picture shows historic Battle Rock. For my final stop of the day I drove out to the Port of Port Orford overlook and shot this next set of images. The first photo shows the port, next is a view looking south at Humbug Mountain, and the last picture is a zoomed image of Island Rock with 3 Sisters in the background. This concludes my Port Orford to Gold Beach
Drive feature, many of today's landmarks can be seen from a different angle in
Part 1 of my morning drive to Gold Beach.
